For the most part people know that going to college will benefit their future, however, a commonly debated question: Is going to college worth all of the time and money? For some, college planning may have begun in their early years, but what about those who don't wish to attend college to become successful in life? Some people, such as the author of “The case against college,” Linda Lee, portrays to believe that not everybody needs to obtain a college degree. After weeks of filling out applications, visitations, and scholarships, I have came to the conclusion that college should highly consider attending college, however, maybe college isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. Colleges offer different times for students to enroll in college. What parents don’t tell us when we are young, is that in order to get certain scholarships, we must apply for college directly out of high school. Something we should be told is that after twelve years, we may be finished, however it may take us eighteen years to be done. When talking about her son, Linda says, “But I now know he did not belong in college, at least not straight out of high school.” If this is something that parents think about, then why don’t colleges offer the same scholarships to students a year after they graduate? I honestly believe that if students were given the opportunity of a gap year, or a year off of college, then more would be interested in attending college.
