Summary Of The Chapter 'The Bicycle'
In chapter 2 "The Bicycle" the author uses powerful imagery to help the reader see a clear vision into the fourteen year olds life as a little kid. This section started off by describing his mother, dad, and step-dad. To him his dad and step-dad are normal but not his mom. He described "Her oddness" as a middle aged white woman who liked riding her antique bicycle and playing the piano a little too much (McBride, James) (pg7). Some of the imagery used to portray the bicycle the kid hated so much was that "it was a huge old clunken blue with white trim, with big fat tires, huge fenders, and a battery powered horn built into the middle of the frame (McBride, James) (pg5). This example and others alike, just as descriptive is what helped the reader
