Kenneth Branaghs 1993 Much ado about nothing shows how the setting of a film can contribute to the way the film plays out. Branagh decided to set the scene between Don Jon and Conrad in the cellar of Leonartos house to help set the atmosphere and mood. Branagh uses a low key chiaroscuro light mid-shot whilst Conrad gives Don Jon a massage. The low key light mid-shot helps show us the emotions on both Don Jon and Conrad’s face showing the power Don Jon has over Conrad, the chiaroscuro lighting portrays the evil within Don Jon. Branagh has decided to set the scene between Don Jon and Conrad in the cellar of Leonato’s house in Messina, Italy. PNP or paranitrophenol is an organic compound that undergoes changes when the pH is manipulated of the solution. PNP is also an acid/ base indicator. The compounded starts off as internal conjugated ring with the hydroxyl group and the nitro group single bonded to the aromatic ring. This occurs at the pH of 5. At this point the aromatic compound is colorless and is in the ultraviolet range. However, as the pH begins to increase the hydroxyl group deprotonates, leaving the oxygen with a negative 1 charge. The molecule compensates for the negative charge by conforming to a more stable resonance structure. The structure now has the oxygen and the nitrogen for the nitro group double bonded to the ring. The negative charge lies with one the oxygen atom that is a part of the nitro group. This lead to a highly conjugated system. If a system is conjugated the compound shows the presence by giving off a color. In PNP the color change is most visible at the pH of 10.…

William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing is a play involving by deception, disloyalty, trickery, eavesdropping, and hearsay. The main examples of deception we see are from the characters of Beatrice and Benedick.. We as the audience are exposed to their ‘merry war; ad they exchange witty and sarcastic banter, providing the humor throughout Shakespeare’s comedy and very interesting comparisons to be commented onIn act 1, we are introduced to Beatrice who Beatrice tends to take charge of every conversation, not reluctant to state her own views on a subject regardless of whom she addresses. Her wit and sarcasm are wasted on the messenger, who doesn't know what to make of her. Her uncle, Leonato, acknowledges her ongoing "merry war" with Benedick. Finally, she engages Benedick himself, who can give back as good as he gets.Benedick too is mentioned before he appears, but only by Beatrice, who is clearly bitter toward him, apparently as the result of previous experience with him. In his battle of words with Beatrice, Benedick puts up a noble fight, finally putting her on the defensive, but while Benedick has the last word this time, Beatrice ends the conversation…

In 'Much Ado About Nothing,' William Shakespeare presents two very similar characters: Benedick of Padua and Beatrice of Messina in a variety of ways, from rancorous 'harpy' to machiavellian 'jester' after their suggested punitive break up to strong lovers who ens the play harmoniously engaged, with plenty of witticisms along the way. The play charts the major change in both of them and their relationship in their most comedic and romantic moments and their relationship is affectionately brought to life in Kenneth Branagh's 1993 version of the play.…

Of all the characters from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”, Beatrice is perhaps the most interesting. As a brilliant and outspoken, her character is quite the opposite of her cousin, Hero. One must ask, “In what way is Beatrice different from other women during Shakespeare's era?” And furthermore, “for what purpose did the author write her as the firm character she plays as?” Beatrice’s character cannot be adequately pegged down by the interpretation of the reader, as she is both seemingly realistically presented and yet fictionally portrayed by the author.…

The movie “Much Ado About Nothing”, though similar to the original play by William Shakespeare, has subtle differences. Although the dialogue in the movie is the same as the original play, the settings and emotional intent are better represented in the film. So, the overall meaning of the story isn’t diminished but preserved and enhanced. In Summary, the movie is a good representation of the original play that William Shakespeare would be proud of.…

during the Elizabethan Age. For centuries, many people have questioned the title of the play and claim it has to do with everyone making commotion about tragedies which turn out to be false, therefore nothing. Looking further into the play, the reader will notice that Shakespeare successfully exposes the dark, ugly truth about gender roles and inequality of his time. Viewing the play today contrasts the roles between men and woman from the past to present. Nevertheless, Shakespeare being a feminist and his complex view of love is what allowed him to create the greatest romantic comedies of his time. Shakespeare compares and contrasts the value of love through…

2013 brought us a new take on the Play “Much Ado about Nothing” by William Shakespeare. The new film was adapted, produced and directed by Joss Whedon who also created the Buffy the Vampire movie along with it’s series. “Much Ado” unlike the Kenneth Branagh Version is set in Modern Day along with a black and white indie film look to it. The film sticks to the language of William Shakespeare respectively and follows the plot to it as well. The play is pretty much a story about a bunch of rumors that get mixed up with one another leading to very confused characters accidentally falling in love with one another or out of it.…

The plot of Much Ado About Nothing centrals around misunderstanding, as during the Elizabethan era “Nothing” was pronounced “Noting”, meaning to observe, to take notice of or to write something down – take note of something, as the reader learns the play revolves around observation and surveying, however often these ‘notings’ are not continuously accurate, they are often misinterpreted or misunderstood and also misreported. The title highlights the idea of how lack of careful noting habitually results in tragic consequences. Furthermore ‘nothing’ during the Elizabethan era was the colloquial term for vagina. As the plot also revolves around men, their relationships or lack of relationships with women, this places women as the main focus of the play as the title could be portrayed as revolving around them this creates a more powerful image of women throughout the play.…

“Much Ado About Nothing”, a comedy written by Shakespeare, tells us the story of a complex love story between two pairs of lovers. Recently, I had watched two adaptations of this play. One was the original play written by Shakespeare and directed by Branagh. The other adapted by David Nicholls and directed by Brian Percival. The Shakespearean adaptation takes place in the Renaissance era of Messina, Italy. The adaption by David Nicholls takes place in the modern era, in England. Clearly, the Shakespearean version is much older, and so it differs from the modern adaption greatly. In terms of setting, feminism and language, distinct differences can be found.…
