Summary Of The Great Gatsby

In the beginning of The Great Gatsby the narrator Nick Carraway is introduced along with the main characters of the novel Jay Gatsby, Daisy and Tom Buchanan. First, Nick Carraway moves to New York in 1922 to learn about the bond business. Second, drives out to East egg to have dinner with Tom and his cousin Daisy Buchanan. The next day Nick travels to New York with Tom and there he meets Myrtle Tom’s mistress. Next, Nick receives an invitation from Jay Gatsby inviting him to one of his grand parties where he meets Gatsby himself. Thirdly, Nick invites Daisy over for tea and there Daisy and Gatsby reconnect, thus leading to an affair. Daisy’s husband Tom discovers her treachery and as a result he confronts Gatsby in a suit at the Plaza Hotel.
