Summary Of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is based on an old fashioned story. The story is about a beautiful young girl named Katrina, she is a daddy’s girl that will always get her way with her parents. There is this boy named Ichabod and he is a very tall, ugly dorky school teacher and he had always had his eye out for Katrina. Well another boy comes around named Broom Van Bryant his nickname is Brom Bones, he is very popular, charming, loves scaring people, strong, good-looking and well-liked. Throughout this story Brom and Katrina start liking each other and it’s kind of a big deal with Ichabod and Brom because they are both into Katrina. With this story there is foreshadowing a lot of it.
Ichabod made it known from the beginning that he was scared about riding alone at night. The only reason why Ichabod is scared to ride alone at night is because he is scared of the horsemen. The horsemen are scary looking and only come out at night time so it scares him. When Ichabod went to go see Katrina to try and win her over with Brom, Brom found out Ichabod was scared to ride alone at night. Ichabod had rode a yucky horse to go see Katrina so as this was all going on Brom was gathering this all in his head.

Brom is just sitting there because he is jealous of Ichabod, he thought Katrina liked him and not Ichabod. Well Brom also likes to play tricks on people so as he is sitting there watching Ichabod and Katrina dance, he is getting angry, but the way he handles his anger is to get revenge by tricking and scaring

Despite Bromden’s distinctly mute manor, towards the end of the novel he begins to have his redeeming heroic moments. One example, in an attempt to prove his loyalty to McMurphy and defy the Big Nurse, Bromden becomes the singular vote needed in order to make McMurphy’s campaign to watch the World Series of Baseball successful, instead of doing the routine chores. This moment was crucial to Bromden character development. In a tiny way, this act was Bromden’s first attempt at standing up to the Big Nurse and the Combine, which has derided him for so many years. Another example of Bromden’s heroism is when, after McMurphy takes some of the patients on the mental ward on a fishing trip, he steps in to defend McMurphy in the shower against the…

Brom Bones marries Katrina because Ichabod is no longer even there to compete for her after the Headless Horseman incident. After Ichabod’s disappearance Brom charms Katrina with his various skills and large muscles, this convincing Katrina to marry him. I believe that after Ichabod backed own from fighting Brom, Brom decided that he should mentally fight him. After the party Ichabod is going home after being dumped he is really sad, out of nowhere he sees the “Headless Horseman” who throws his “head” at him and after that it is unclear. I think that the so called “Headless Horseman” really is just Brom dressed up to make sure that Ichabod isn’t a…

Ichabod had cast a look behind him to see if his followers had vanished. Just then, the goblin rider had a pumpkin with fire on top of his head as though it was his own. Ichabod raced inside the bridge, eager to get out of this awful vicinity.…
