In the story, The Man in the Well, by Ira Sher, the children decided not to help the man by never going back to the well. Aaron, the oldest kid in the group, made up a lie that someone was coming to help. In the story, it says, “‘My father says he’s coming, with the police. And he knows what to do.’” (Sher 23). This demonstrates to the reader that the kids didn’t help the man.
