Summary Of The Persecuted Church By Kurtz
Analysis of “The Persecuted Church” by Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz

The Middle East is currently facing a crisis that affects Christian residents in the area. Militant groups such as the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, greatly contribute to the religious persecution in the Middle East. They perform appalling acts that include beheadings, merciless beatings, and incinerating homes belonging to faithful Christians. The increasing lethal persecutions have caused an estimated 7 million people of faith to go into hiding and to even flee their homes. The Church is pressed with the issue of effectively addressing the problem.
In order to produce a feasible solution to the problem, awareness about the religious persecution in the Middle East has

Thousands slaughtered, pillaged, razed, and raped the Muslim and Jewish communities under the Cross of Christ. Though such moral stains are present, the Crusades were not the unjustifiable attack and persecution of Muslims and an attempt to take their lands. The purpose of this essay is to counter the negative myths that Christianity led unprovoked aggression against a peaceful Islam World, that the Crusades were colonialism of Christianity, and that the Muslims have a good reason to the hate the West today because of the Crusades.…

The resurgence of old theological dogmatism often does not fit well with the needs and thoughts of the modern world, and it may even be counterproductive. We readily point out that Muslim fundamentalism may have done more harm to the Muslim world than any good it basically wanted to contribute. The same, however, must be said about many forms of Christian fundamentalism throughout history, and about other religions as well.…

The process by which Scripture has been preserved and compiled is one whose history is worth noting. The early church had many opportunities to share the Good News of Christ via word of mouth, but from the time of Christ’s resurrection until the mid-second century, there had not been a single culmination of writings considered to be essential for the purposes of teaching and spreading the Gospel. Increasing heretical opposition in conjunction with the need for a standard of living to follow gave rise to the formation of the New Testament Canon; however, this would not come without multiple false teachers and many arguments over what would classify as “inspired by God”. To seek the answer to one of history’s most important questions, we must understand what the canon is, how it was inspired and to whom authority was given in determining what would be included in such Holy Scriptures.…

Since last year, the government secretly tore down the churches in Wenzhou for no reason. The roads were blocked to refuse any media interviews, and people were not allowed to go closer to the church. The pastors and main people in the church were under control. My hometown is close to Wenzhou, and our family knew some pastors there. We were heartbroken when we heard the news. Though this kind of things happened all the time, this is the first time the whole area’s churches are implicated, and all these churches are official registered. Some people did disappeared and “bear the accusation in silence” as Eusebius said. It seems either seventeen thousand years ago or today, persecution of Christians never stops. Though I do not totally agree with the teaching of martyrdom, I still show my highest respect to those suffered because of their persistence in faith. Other than quiet and follow the majority like large numbers of professing Christians did in the third century, who did not get mercy from their obedience, but got attacked again, fighting back as those martyrs may be a better way to hold our…

While violence against Christians has been increasing worldwide, and while Christians in the East are becoming "an endangered species," according to author William Dalrymple, attention to the crisis in the broadsheets and broadcasts of the West is "occasional and momentary" at best. No doubt this reticence must in part have to do with the West's tendency to quarantine religion out of public discourse and concern.…

The Crusades, themselves, are described as movements in favor of the impoverished and unjustly treated. These three derivative monotheistic religions adamantly preach on the spread of peace, assumedly in the name of unity and progression, but use schisms due to basal differences to justify wars that span current human history. These breaks in religious sects show a lack of understanding of the communal experience and peace which their religions, at a base level, strive to teach. These very same recurring issues are extremely distinct…

Many events led the American Colonies to join together and fight for independence from Britain. It wasn’t economic disparity and it wasn't that the king was a belligerent leader. The British found out that they were not willing to pay England back for taking care of their own colonies in the New World. Geographical distance between England and the New World played a great deal into the problems that they were having. It took days and months just to send or even receive a message, they didn't have computers this wasn't the 21st century. The American Revolution was practically our first major war, by definition. The American Revolution evolved from beginning to end, between 1765 and 1783 in which the thirteen colonies rejected the British monarchy and aristocracy. They defeated the rule of Great Britain and founded the United States of America.…

Throughout history, instances of religious groups turning to violence or being victimized for their religion have unfortunately occurred. The most prominent instance of this that immediately comes to mind for most is the Holocaust, where millions of Jews were killed by the Germans, led by Adolf Hitler (Kévorkian 8). Many have not been educated to the fact that there have been many other significant genocides within the last one hundred years based on religious violence, one being the Armenian Genocide (United 3). Although not so nearly well known as the Holocaust, this genocide was every bit as horrible. Looking in depth at the Armenian Genocide of 1915, one will see the gruesome and atrocious actions of the Ottoman Empire…
