1. The exposition of this poem is about a person who seems very unhappy in their life at the moment. Almost unsatisfied with their life and the way it is going. They are thinking about ending their life. The thoughts in their head at the beginning of the poem are more negative and sad.
2. I believe the speaker decided to sink because of the thoughts In their head. I think the speaker is severely depressed. They are thinking of ending their life in the river. The speaker tried to drown. The only reason the speaker said they didn’t is because of the water being too cold. But I think they really did not want to die. They are sad and depressed but scared of death.
3. The rising action of this poem is when the speaker said they went to the river.
