The Prophets Reading this book there is one thing that is clear, that the author, Abraham Heschel, intended this book to be read by not only Christians, but also for Jews to be able to read and understand. What the author tries to do and does a great job at doing in the book is simply describing the prophetic era as a whole. His intention and reason behind writing the book is to describe the era and the message of the prophets that they are saying. He wants to describe the era and the situation of the cultures and peoples during the time of the prophets and what makes a prophet. This is why this book is for both Jews and Christians, because it is simply about the prophetic era in the Old Testament which is what the Jews believe in as well. The book gives many different details an information about the prophets themselves as well. The author talks about each prophet that he has in the book and describes everything about them that we can find so that we can know more about them and the message that they bring. …show more content…
God wanted to show His love so much that He used the prophets to give the message to the people because He does not want to punish His people but wants to bless them. Once again, Abraham does a great job at explaining God's motives and God's heart. God does not want to punish us but will if He has to. God ultimately saved us and continues to save us because of His love. He used love to help His people. This is one common motive in all the prophets messages is the motive of God's love. God wanted to move His people through His love rather than something else. I agree with this message and believe it is the same today as it was before. God would rather move people through love rather than punishment because God loves us so
