Characters
In the novel The Rule of Thoughts, one of the main characters is Michael (the protagonist), where everything he’d ever acknowledged about his life and the world, completely twisted upside down. They find a little more about him and have a plan of getting out.
The final event leading to the climax was Sarah, Bryson, and Michael fighting obstacles set up by Kaine such as facing snakelike creatures and other harmful plots.
The climax of the story was when they eventually cross obstacles set up by Kaine and code a ladder that should of got them out of there. Near the end, they find out they were merely just being used as test subjects making them feel like it was real life with still all “human senses”.
Author’s Purpose
One of the purposes the author made was teaching the reader a lesson about forgiving and not always be harsh on those who made mistakes. An example from the text to support my claim is “Please accept my apologies, Michael. Oh and sorry for dropping you in lifeblood…”(Dashner, pg. 130). Another purpose for writing the novel was to create suspenseful and jaw-dropping moments for the reader to enjoy. An example would be “He killed him. I killed him...Sarah…”(Dashner, pg. 60)
