Summary Of The Scientific State Of Mind By Janes Jacob
In the excerpt “The Scientific State of Mind,” from Dark Ages Ahead, Janes Jacobs describes the four steps of a scientific process, as a quest for the reality, and how the science is distinguished from other pseudoscientific pursuits. To begin, Jacob lays out reasons why science is adored in North America; yet, it’s disrespected by opponents. According to Jacob, science is a “state of mind” that aims to discover the truth and dispose of myths and analogies. In fact, science is different from other pursuits of truth in that it employs reliable scientific tools accurately. Jacob continues by describing the scientific method in four steps. Beginning the process with a “fruitful” question, scientists propose a rational hypothesis to answer this

The scientific method can be defined simply as a series of steps. There are five steps to the scientific method that are used. These steps consist of making an observation, proposing a hypothesis, accepting or rejecting the hypothesis, and revising it as if it had been rejected; or draw conclusions as if it had been accepted. Every theory will not use all of the steps each and every time. While testing these theories, scientists should always keep an open mind simply because with science the outcomes of the results are unknown (Trefil, (2010).…

The first step in the scientific method is to observe. When you are observing you are discovering what is going on around you. The second step in the scientific method is question. To question one must make an attempt to explain the observation that was made. The next step in the scientific method is making a hypothesis. A hypothesis is made to predict a solution and an outcome. The fourth step in the scientific method is making a prediction. When making a prediction you are indicating the outcome. Next is the conclusion. The conclusion details the findings of the testing. This then leads to the final step which is the results. The results are whether your findings based on the hypothesis…

Imagine life as we know it without science. This may be hard to do, considering that scientific technology is now a perpetual symbol of modern-day life. Everything we see, everything we touch, and everything we ingest—all conceived of scientific research. But how did it come to be this way? Was it not only centuries ago that science began to surpass the authority of the church? Between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, natural philosophers, now known as scientists, founded a new world view on science, which was previously based on the Bible and classic philosophers like Aristotle and Ptolemy. Both people connected their natural studies directly to God and the Bible, creating ideas like a geocentric earth. With time and new ideas, scientists managed to develope methods for creating and discovering things in nature, and with enough resources and patronage, were able to answer asked and unasked questions. Science, however, was not supported by everyone, and had to face many challenges to achieve the power it maintains in today’s world. Due to the strong authority that politics, religion, and common social order controlled in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, science was subjectively held in the hands of those who could utilize it or reject it.…

The scientific method is a way for someone to gather new knowledge about something – whether it is an object, apparatus, etc – and to put that new knowledge together in an orderly way. According to Conceptual Integrated Science, Galileo and the English philosopher Francis Bacon came up with the scientific method in the 17th century as a tool to be used by people to practice science. The scientific method includes six steps: (1) Observe (2) Question (3) Hypothesize (4) Predict (5) Test Predictions (6) Draw a conclusion. The first step, observe, simply means to examine and to take note of what is around you or before you physically. Upon observing, one would move onto the next step, which is to question. After observing one may notice something…

Also we never have scientific background unless it is said somewhere else and we see it on the internet. We just assume everything is right we don't actually look for the best answers. In Chapter eleven “she said if everyone would study science more than there wouldn't be all the trouble there was. He said science was going to discover the basic secret of life someday”. Basically he's saying that if people like us were to study more science we wouldn't have so many unanswered questions and issues in the world and we would know almost everything we needed…

From my perspective, the natural sciences are an area of knowledge independent of culture. In order to reach this conclusion, I examined the scientific method. The scientific method is a method used to distinguish a science from a pseudo science ( fake science). According to the traditional picture of the scientific method, science is divided into 5 steps known as inductivism.…
