to harm your loved one, others will often take actions of revenge to get satisfaction in some way for the harm you caused their loved one. In the story “Killings” Richard wanted to repair his marriage with Mary Ann but she had already moved on to Frank. Frank was always around Mary Ann so Richard could never make a move to try and salvage his marriage with Mary Ann. So, Richard takes matters in his own hands after the jealousy and rage had finally consumed him and shot Frank on Mary’s couch in front of Mary and Richard’s children and Mary herself. It shows how most of Richard actions come from his emotion that he is unable to really control. After Richard is arrested and released on bail, Matt attended his son Frank’s memorial service to pay respect to his son that he dearly loved. Soon after attending the service and hearing some of the remarks made from his family about Richard, he tends to his wife while she is upset from seeing Richard around town walking free after he killed their son. So overtime he thinks it over and comes up with a plan to kill his son’s killer and make it look like Richard skipped town before his trial. The connection with story being a love story with tragedy like Romeo and Juliet is that they are both love stories with tragic events that happen. Frank and Mary could be compared to Romeo and Juliet like how they had parties that didn’t want to see them together. This leads to one death to a lover Frank and One death of a killer Richard. Ultimately two deaths of lovers just not lovers to one another. It goes to show that when people are in love or have love for someone that they will go to great lengths to get what they want or to find satisfaction in a way.
Every major event in this story is done because of something pertaining to a loved one.The outcome from these actions are tragic for both sides and ultimately leads to death for both parties. Richard kills Frank because he can't get to Mary Ann with him there in the picture. Then after Frank’s death his family can’t rest easy knowing that the killer is on the loose. Ultimately it goes to show you that when there is love, tragedy can follow easily.
