Summary Of The Things They Carried By Tim O Brien
“The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brian outlines a platoon’s experience during the Vietnam War and specifies many items that the soldiers in the platoon bring while going on marches. If I had to bring three items with me into battle, I would bring a photo of my family (which includes my dog), some type of gun, and a Benedictine bracelet. These things would combine and give me motivation, authority, and protection. Tim O’Brian’s short story “The Things They Carried” is a story, which follows a platoon in the Vietnam War. The platoon is led by lieutenant Jimmy Cross, but Cross keeps thinking of a girl at home which distracts him from taking the proper steps to protect his men.
