As you all know we are gathered here today to share our last moments with Dumby Red. My name is Gary Black, they call me blackly down at the point. I am extremely honoured to be here amongst all of you to talk about Dumby, however if I wouldn’t have meet Dumby I would not have had the courage to come speak in front of all of you.…
He became a controversy when the public opinion swayed towards more liberal beliefs as he stood strong in his conservative convictions; many accused, and continue to accuse, Spurgeon of holding overly dogmatic convictions. Charles Spurgeon was a great leader of his faith and despite the controversy and lack of support demonstrated to him by the church he had served diligently throughout his life, he refused to be swayed and continued to preach, and teach, his beliefs as he understood them without loss of integrity. However, this is not to say that this great teacher was, as so many accuse him, “inflexible” or “overly dogmatic.” One of the greatest accomplishments of this leader was his ability; Spurgeon demonstrated his ability to adapt through his ability to model after Christ-like doings in his daily livings and through his recovery and later ministries.…

George says that Lennie and himself are different from other men like them because they have each other. Other men are on their own and they have each other to talk to and keep one another company. Such as, when George says “With us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us...”(p.14) George says this meaning that he cares about Lennie, and Lennie cares about him, they both look after each other in different ways. They are not just men finding jobs that don’t have anyone to care about them or anyone to care about. George and Lennie are friends that will always be there for each other through bad and good. George being someone to care for and look after Lennie who sometimes cannot look after himself. After Lennie’s Aunt Clara died George took Lennie in and cares for him because he knew no one else would. Lennie being so protective over George because he is like his only friend and he looks up to George. Lennie can’t remember something that happens the day before but he always remembers what George tells him. Whether it is about the farm that they want to own someday or about the rabbits, Lennie remembers it all. George also says “If them other guys gets in jail they can rot for all anybody gives a damn. But not us”(p.14) Meaning that if one of them was to get in trouble the other would care, not just let them go like nothing ever happened. George and Lennie are lucky to have each other because most other men don’t have…
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and The Canterbury Tales were both remarkable pieces of literature that are key to the development of society. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a tale that represents the chivalric code, order, Christian virtues and respect. The Canterbury Tales, however, somewhat poke fun at the church and mock its workers, and is filled with lust and cockiness. Both of the works were written in the same time period. While they were written in the same time period, the two stories are remarkably different from one another, for Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is much more respectful and chivalric, while The Canterbury Tales is dirty, humorous, and satirical.…
Lastly, he was very thoughtful when it came to his wife. When she stated she’d like to look out while she was working at the counter, he built her a window immediately. He liked to compliment her, for example on her gardening, he says ‘no one would ever know you hadn’t come from the country’. And when he had the extra money he’d brought her ‘marigolds and snapdragons to add to her border of wildflowers’.…
What a faithful, loving, caring, thoughtful, selflessness and very attentive man he was to his wife’s needs. He became very active throughout her whole hospital stay coming up with a call bell for assistance from staff, meeting with Dr. Lohmann on a regular basis, taking over the house finances, praying with her, faithfully visiting with her sometimes twice a day.…
As the start of World War II emerged Mexican Americans took part in changing public policies that affected their education and social status. The Good Neighbor Policy was implemented to improve the relationship the United States had with Latin America. One of the agreements under the policy was to make sure that any Mexican worker who entered the United States was not discriminated against anything. Texas on the other had large numbers of racial discrimination, and the United states feared any possible negative impact it could have on the Good Neighbor Policy in Mexico. Texas and federal government both took action on the discriminatory acts against Mexicans in the United States.…
Minny is fat, short, and strong (Stockett 70). She refuses to be treated like an object. She has gotten fired a number of times for “telling it like it is” (Stockett 120). Minny is also an outstanding cook. The main reason her bosses put up with her remarks is that she cooks so well. (Stockett 135). On the bus, Minny is surrounded by good friends and just having a good time (Stockett 19). Minny is not shy when she has something on her mind (Stockett 65). Eleanor mainly stands out with her bright red hair and freckles (Rowell 11). She is not really nice to other people, but she is very smart. She excels in her English and Art classes (Rowell 56). She also stands out with her wardrobe. She wears button-up shirts, blazers, and men’s ties (Rowell 10).…
Growing up as a happy and popular young man, Zack creates himself a perfect reputation which left room for love and smothering from his mother and two sisters. His mother and sisters love him very much and show this love by being at his every beckoning. Winifred is no exception; the love for Zack is shown by the extraction, "How be you wash my bike for me, Pose, Love?" I would be halfway to the kitchen for bucket and rags before he stopped speaking. [And] I was Zachary's willing slave. Slavery in fact, was a vogue in our house."(Wilson,101). Zack from a very young age is overwhelmed with love and good deeds sent in his direction. He takes advantage of these kind gestures and never really appreciates what was being done for him. This lack of appreciation and constant smothering is noticed by his father at later stages in the story and creates a level of confliction between them throughout the story. His father makes the mistake of not saying anything about his disagreement with the way Zack is treated and allows the conflict to continue. "Even Dad took a long time to wake up. You wouldn't think a fourteen or sixteen-year-old-boy could hoodwink a father [And] Dad would just leave the room and go out to his work shed and sit and rock and rock in that old chair of his." (Wilson,103). His father new there was a problem but did not act on it until the situation reached its climax which resulted in Zack leaving home. The problem is allowed to escalate at the time. The father does not play…
The itinerant workers are caught in a trap of loneliness. They never stay in one place long enough to form permanent relationships as it would be destroyed by the demands of the itinerant life. This was what made the connection between George and Lennie, extraordinary. When George and Lennie first arrive on the ranch, the boss is suspicious of George’s intentions of when it comes to his care of lennie. ‘What stake you got in this guy? You takin’ his pay away from him?’ This shows that nobody understands friendship; as it does not exist on this ranch. To add to this,…

Lennie and I had a different relationship than most people do. We stuck together wherever we went, and a lot of people questioned this. It was just something that we did. He wouldn’t make it on his own; I liked the company he gave me even if he did or said silly things. Lennie and I had been planning on saving enough to buy land together and have a bunch of different animals, and everyone told me that Lennie was just going to hold me back. Sometimes I believe that he did. Not even I know why we stuck together; he and I had a strange friendship that we both we along with.…
Really, Shiro knew pretty much everything about what's happened. That was exactly why he was able to make such a flawlessly timed entrance, naturally. Was it all entirely intentional? Maybe. Who knows?…
