August Pullman is a great character with loads of charm, humor, and kindness. With only one glance you might want to stay away from him. He’s like opening a present with horrible wrapping. There might not be a bow, but it’s that iPhone X you wanted. All the characters are given such unique traits, much of them are hurting and need that one person to clear up their day. Palacio gave these characters crisp identities with a warm, creamy centre. Justin says in his part “i’m going to be an overprotective dad someday, know it. my kids are going to know i care”. This shows that this person really cares about the people around him and that is shown through love for other characters. Although, this book lost one star because of the overwhelming amount of “peachyness”. No doubt, this book is great for bullying awareness but there is no part in the book to help the victim deal with their problems. Everything works out in favor for Auggie and nothing comes out of the other characters that assist in forming the story. Another thing that I really liked was that the way the narrative was written in each of the characters perspectives really tells a lot about the individual. For example in Via’s part it is written “Far above the world, Planet Earth is blue, And there’s nothing I can do”. Via is a very selfless character and proves that throughout the book and that is what I love about
