I will play an active role in planning and supporting instruction that is aligned to our mission of college-readiness, and ensure that school time and resources are focused on students attainment & teacher impact. In conclusion, my goals for the upcoming week will be challenging. My students need the changes and accommodations. In literacy, my goal is to make writing fun for the students. It is sad that they view it as a chore. Encouragement is also important in literacy so that their confidence grows. I can see this when students read with me. In mathematics, my goal is to keep students on track. I plan to use some of the methods that I learned about in the Instructional Assistant Training from Thursday. My hope for next week is that the students’ passion for learning…

I will display this mission statement on my locker door, next to my desk so I will have an easy access to it, especially during times when I may become frustrated and feel like giving up on a student who may be failing my class and do not seem to care. It will remind me that my purpose is to serve and motivate others to reach their full potential. As Lee Canter explained in the video ‘ The Power of belief ‘, a high performing teacher never gives up because “they believe that all children can succeed”(Laureate Education, 2010). It is this kind of teacher who can make a difference in the lives of the…

The team will meet at least twice weekly and provide feedback on the progress via email to Ms. Velma Johnson. The objective for the team is to meet with their grade level teaching partners to bring their concerns to the meetings. Ultimately, these members will review and discuss which concerns are valid and relate to the new initiative. Personal feelings are set aside to achieve whatever is necessary to meet the needs of the students. As educators, one must remember the focus is on what will work best for the students’ success. There are times when stepping out of one’s comfort zone (the norm) is necessary.…

As the principal of James S. Russell Middle School, my philosophy is simple. I believe that if we invest in our students and expand upon their previous knowledge, we can explore uncharted territory. By “thinking outside of the box" and striving to teach the whole child, we are destined to intersect with success. My belief is that if I continue to successfully motivate the RMS student, faculty, and staff to do their very best and extend their personal limits, the success for our division will be exhibited…

When starting a new school year a teacher has new students whom they have to get to know pretty well. Prior to this new year, the teacher should have all of their expectations and goals in order; this includes the state standards and school standards. This introduces the idea of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, where teachers want to make sure that the goals they choose are difficult for the students but are also reachable goals as well (2009). Teachers have a good understanding for the grade they are teaching, meaning they can predict what a group of students are capable of and what practices to try to get the most development from their students (2009). Though they are really good at making predictions there are other outside factors that teachers need to consider.…
