The Autobiography of Malcolm X Summary Malcolm X, was one of the greatest civil rights leaders of all time. His leadership through the unyielding Nation of Islam and strong stance against white culture moved civil rights along like no other leader at the time could. In his autobiography, he describes his origins and how he discovered his beliefs which helped shape the civil rights movement. X was born in a small town in Michigan in 1925 under the name of “Malcolm Little”. While Little was growing up, he was a curious and smart child. Unfortunately, his father was killed by police brutality when he was still young, and his mother was thrown into a rage-induced madness.
