Jericho says “Look who’s talkin’!” This quote is showing us that Jericho has a comical personality by the way he responds to things. This supports my thesis by showing Jericho’s personality. Although it seems kind of crazy how the dialogues between two characters can reveal peoples personality, ms draper successfully accomplishes doing that.
The interaction between Jericho and Mr.
Tambori shows Jericho’s goals. “Yeah I know-a Thursday right? Talk about pressure! I’ve been practicing every night. I’m at the place where I dream the music.” This quote is showing that Jericho really cares about music and is very talented. This supports my thesis because the interaction between Jericho and Mr. Tambori is revealing the way Jericho feels about music. “Can I just get a ticket for the rest of the week first? I don’t want to think that far ahead. Maybe I’d rather play football.” This quote from the conversation between Jericho and Mr. Tambori is showing that Jericho would also like to play football for the future. This supports my thesis because it is showing how Jericho talks about his future with Mr. Tambori. It is amazing how quick a conversation can pass by so fast, but it’s also amazing how much it
reveals. The interaction between Jericho and Arielle shows Jericho’s love for his trumpet. “Yeah, my best girl Zora. He picked up the leather trumpet case and slowly unzipped it. He removed the trumpet with care.” This quote is showing how he is showing the trumpet to Arielle. This supports my thesis because the way that Jericho handles the trumpet, he is implying that he really loves his trumpet. “Just me and Zora. If I had been by myself I would have been really nervous. But I’m never scared when I have my trumpet with me. She’s like my best friend.” This quote is showing how nicely Jericho talks and treats his trumpet. This niceness is secretly implying to us that he deeply loves his trumpet. Ms Draper uses the interactions between Jericho, Josh, Mr. Tambori, and Arielle to reveal Jericho’s personality. Authors use little hints to reveal a character’s personality without directly stating it. If they did that the book would be boring and very non-creative. The more you read the more you get familiarized with the character because of the big use of little hints. This is like real life you don’t meet someone and instantly know who they are, as time passes you realize all these little hints and things that will make you know their personality.
