Summary: The Effect Of Immigration On The Texas Economy

Immigration is one of the main topics of debate in both the Democrat and Republican parties in Texas economy. Immigration is very important in both political parties because immigration effect the Texas economy in many ways. The effect of immigration on the Texas economy is Illegal Vs. Legal immigration, low skilled workers, and the burden of tax. I choose only these three topics to discuss about my research topic. The key debate over this topic is how to fix these problems caused by immigration in the Texas economy. First, Brannon, I. & Albright, L. (2016) announce that the state of Texas is the second-biggest state in the union both in population and economic behind Alaska. Both legal and illegal immigrants entering the state each year than any other state. To understand how immigration affects the Texas economy is important not just for Texans but also for the rest of the country. In addition, Khimm, S. (2011) discuss that in a study last year, University of California, Davis economist Giovanni Peri found that immigration — both legal and illegal — had a short-term negative impact on employment and average income rates of native-born workers. But in the longer term, Peri concludes, “immigration unambiguously improves employment, productivity, and
income” for native workers as well and shows no evidence of depressing wages. For example, Nowrasteh, A. (2013) explains that both legal or illegal immigration because of the poor English language skills, they are working at the restaurants for busboys and dishwashers but lower-skilled Americans use English skills as hosts, waiters and managers for higher paying occupations. Furthermore, Nowrasteh, A. (2013) also adding that but immigrants aren’t just workers; they are also consumers who create jobs by buying goods and services from Americans. Asian and Hispanic-Americans have almost $2 trillion in national purchasing power. Therefore, both immigration is impact on not only Texas States but also Americans in positive and negative ways. Now, let continue to talk about how is the difference way of legal and illegal immigration are effecting on the burden of tax. For instance, Brannon, I. & Albright, L. (2016) are proving that January 2011, the Department of Homeland Security estimated that there are 11.5 million immigrants residing in the United States illegally, more than half of whom are from Mexico. Thus, illegal immigration is hurting Texas economy like public benefits, they still receive emergency care that the state covers when hospitals pass on the resources in Texas. Therefore, Khimm, S. (2011) By 2013, for example, Texas is expected to add 160,000 schoolchildren, and a higher demand for water amid a dwindling supply may force taxpayers to build reservoirs and fix aging infrastructure. Additionally, Brannon, I. & Albright, L. (2016) are continuing that income tax is far easier to avoid for undocumented workers than are property and sales tax. For example, when illegal immigration is working with the business owner or company, they are receiving cash so they don’t have to pay income tax in the end of the year but legal immigration does because of they have all the legal document. In some ways, legal and immigration are competing for public benefit like food stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Securities, and other benefits. I disagree with that legal immigration are drowning Texas economy because of receiving all those benefits. The reason is that those office or staff workers are full of the illegal workers and they were helping their people and treating legal immigration like they are the one who own this States. On the other hand, since January 2017, it is very different to go to those office and legal immigration does not have to wait long line and wasting their times anymore. Conclusion, to result all these legal and illegal immigration problems in Texas economy, Texas government must reduce how much both immigration entering in Texas and must be restricted.
The reason is that we have a lot of both immigration in Texas and everybody must compete each other for everything like education, driving on high way, shopping at the Grocery Store, hospitals, water and foods, labor workforce and many things that I have not mention in this paragraph. Especially, nowadays, crime is rising and some people want to kill people for no reason so we could not truth no one anymore. The reason is that even though you try to help people, some people will not appreciate and will bite the hand that feeding
them.
