Treatment for depression costs upwards of 300 dollars a month or more.(goodtherapy.org) This high monetary yield does not allow for those of lower economic wealth the opportunity to receive treatment. Proper care for depression is only easy to attain for those that uphold a high economic standing, despite them not usually needing the care as much as other folds of society. This directly disadvantages impoverished students who are held to the same standard despite the monetary difficulty. Hope, or the lack there of, is the main determinant for depression and characterizes that environment. Environmental health as the most important aspect of health since a good environment allows all other aspects of health to fall into place. The main issue is that equalizing the environment for everybody is an impossibility, and another issue entirely. Providing therapeutic for these individuals will aid in ways that allow for acceptance of the surrounding environment hence, bypassing this problem altogether.
