In an attempt to combat the high unemployment rates among veterans, the government has created programs that help find jobs for the retired soldiers. Since the creation of these programs, “More federal agencies, corporations and nonprofit organizations joined the hiring effort and sought veterans for employment” (“Veteran Unemployment”). However, these job opportunities created for veterans are not always the best. There may be many jobs being created, ‘but too many of those are dead-end jobs” (Despite). In fact, many of the positions offered are minimum wage jobs. While America may be getting better, unemployment and underemployment is still a serious problem faced by veterans, especially those who face various mental
