Summary:
”The meaning of Meanjin“ is an article about a creative project Meanjin’s cultural impact and longevity. Meanjin is a small magazine which started in Brisbane in late 1940’s with a pronounced inclination towards poetry. Matthew Wengert tried to explain the history of that magazine from its early editions. It reminds the thoughts about the transfer of that magazine from Brisbane to University of Melbourne after 5 years of its starting. Alongside this article tells about Brisbane has always had a cultural edge that is clear and sharp, which Meanjin pointed to over seventy years ago. Matthew Wengert was successful in recollecting literary history of Meanjin since December 1940. He concluded the article with remembering some of the old writers of that great literary journal.
