Summer Of A Lifetime Motivation
I want to participate in Summer of a Lifetime because I want to experience something that I don’t ordinarily get the opportunity to do. I feel that if I’m around new people, in a new environment, in a different atmosphere, then I’d be able to figure out what I want to pursue in my college career and beyond. I also feel as though, it’d motivate me to do better in my academics because the Summer of a Lifetime program will show me that I can be a student in the college of my choosing if I continue to better myself athletically and academically. My strengths as a student is that I will never be satisfied with being just “Okay”, I

The main reason I believe I deserve a scholarship, is because I have worked on improving myself year after year. This place is more than just a summer camp to me, it totally changed me for the better. This camp helped me be more social, responsible, and it taught me to work and strive for greatness. I do not think any other place could have had an impact on me like this place…

The Teen LIFT program would be very beneficial to me because I believe it will open up new pathways of opportunities for young ladies to focus on the skills needed to function as a whole being when entering the various fields of their choice. Growing up in Orangeburg, SC, I have not had a lot of cultural enrichment opportunities until I became a member of the Delta GEMS program. I have learned so much in the GEMS program and I know that by participating in the Teen LIFT program this summer, my hopes and dreams of becoming a better citizen will only increase my knowledge and skills of becoming a better leader.…

The first reason I want to participate in an Alternative Spring Break is to give back to communities and help them have a brighter future. I have a passion for service and giving back because without help from others I wouldn't be where I am at today. As a result, I want to help others feel cared for and that they have opportunity as well. The second reason I want to participate is in order to learn about different cultures and see in what ways we are the same and different then them. I love to travel and see different places so the Jamaica Alternative Spring Break plays into that. I have been to parts of Europe and to Mexico but never to Jamaica or the Caribbean. Each place I have been to has taught me lots about culture and has allowed me…

    1. The one aspect of Soto's life that was most interesting is when he had the three chicks. Soto had three chicks in his back yard that he was raising. He seemed fascinated by the way they just pecked around his back yard, blinked rapidly, and slept standing up. The chicks used to crawl on his shoes. He thought it was cute until one of the chicks defecated on his shoe. That angered Gary and he kicked sand in the chicks eyes. He immediately felt bad after what he had just done. This is the part of the story that made me laugh. It made me laugh because as the chapter went on, Gary became very protective of the chicks. When he kicked sand in the chicks eyes, it was very alarming. He seemed not to be a violent person.…

All of the seasons are great. Winter is really fun with Christmas and the snow. Fall is also great because of the leafs and football games. But I would have to say that my favorite season of all is summer. Summer is the best, it is baseball season I love to play baseball I have been playing baseball ever since I was a kid. Baseball is the my second favorite sport (First is football). Baseball is you just play the game and have fun. Even if you are losing it is still great to be out on a baseball field having fun with your friends. For example this year my freshman baseball was pretty good but not the best. There were some games we won and some games we lost. It's always fun to win. But even when you do lose you still have a great time out on a baseball field with your team.…

First, I hope to create many long-lasting friendships within the program and establish a sense of camaraderie between everyone I meet. Through bonding and experiencing the program together, I predict that the other members and I will be transformed into a second family. In addition, I hope that this program will provide me with another level of community service by traveling and serving a multitude of communities around the globe. Since I have attended NC State, I have found that volunteering and helping people at school has enriched me even more as a student. After my first semester at NC State, I volunteered over twenty hours to various clubs and activities while maintaining a rigorous class schedule. I learned how volunteering is a way for me to help those in my community, and I've found that these people help me as well. They allow me to create new experiences and make new friends with people who also have a passion for serving others. The program will help me to gain developed leadership skills, which will help create new opportunities throughout my life. I predict the program will assist me in becoming an experienced leader and develop the necessary qualities to become a great…

Doing this summer school program is a lot better than actually doing the real school because it would take most of my school year to pass a class and here it took me like 5 weeks to do it and now I am passing this class. In here they teach you so many other ways to do things and how to look at things in a different perspective. I would rather do summer school again for another class because it is a lot better in summer school than the actual…

I vowed to do whatever it took to succeed and excel at Caltech, and pursue my passion for STEM. I believe the Freshman Summer Research Institute will afford me the opportunity to level the playing field between myself and my fellow students. The program will provide me with a unique opportunity to learn new mathematics with which to advance my abilities prior to attending campus in the fall, as well as work with a brilliant researcher gaining important lab experience that I have been unable to obtain before now. Additionally, residing at Caltech along with fellow Pre-Frosh/Frosh, whatever we are, prior to the start of school, will give me the freedom to ease my way into experiencing life on my own for the first time, as well as develop bonds with my classmates and the rest of the Caltech community. Overall, the most exciting aspect of FSRI for me is the excitement of being allowed a jump start on my long-awaited Freshman year at Caltech (since the 4th grade I have been working towards this goal). I sincerely hope that I have the opportunity to attend FSRI and prepare myself for the upcoming school…
