This program enables participants to master advanced diagnostic and therapeutic laboratory techniques and exploring the fields of radiation therapy, medical dosimetry, and diagnostic imaging. This program will be held from June 9, 2014 – July 25, 2014.
The future group of students will work with the School of Health Professions faculty five days a week, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is located at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, in the School of Health Professions facilities. This program is a hands-on experience in mastering many different college level subjects.
Throughout this seven-week program, there will be major emphasis on the importance of scientific investigation and diagnostic testing. The participants will become aware of the different career paths they could go in, based on their interests.
The students that attend will be allowed to tour MD Anderson and other Texas Medical Center facilities and are welcome to attend other summer experience programs. After the seven weeks, there will be a celebration for all the students and they will get to share all their experiences with everyone.
Students must have completed their senior year at a Texas high school, to be a part of this program. This is a competitive program. An interest in pursuing an undergraduate or graduate career in a professional health care field is suggested.
So students will be able to participate in this program, they will receive a stipend of $2,000.00 for the seven-week period. It isn’t a salary, but it for the cost of living.
