Summer Rain Event Analysis
We decided that we wanted to have a summer kickoff event for the residents of NJIT. We had the event on the Sunday May 3, 2013, the Sunday before finals week last year. We had an 18 foot water slide, inflatable twister, slip & slide, dunk tank, slushies, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, henna tattoos, caricatures, hotdogs and hamburgers, a volleyball tournament, water balloon fight, and a watermelon eating contest. The event started at 2 pm with everything that was all day. Some activities were only at specific times. We ran the volleyball tournament from 3-4:30, the water balloon fight from 3:30-4, and then the Watermelon eating contest at 4:30.

2. Please provide an overview of the planning process, specifically what did the organization of this event look like for the members of this organization.
Within RHA, we have a sub-committee, our programming committee. The end of summer bash became out main event for the semester. We had some turbulence in leadership with RHA, so when I took over programming, we decided it was better to put our energy into one big event for the semester. I had about eight other people on my programming committee, including two of our e-board members who helped plan everything. We

There are very few events on the weekends, when residents are just sitting in their rooms because they are bored. This event was aimed to enhance the experience for residents. School spirit is fairly nonexistent at this school, but this event was trying to get residents out and about and happy to be at NJIT for the weekend. Also, the idea was if we could keep having fun events on the weekends, more people would be likely to stay. I love NJIT, but nothing happens on the weekend because the school does not care as much about residents as they care about commuters. So this event brought residents out, when they were stressing about finals, and gave them a good

After the event in SAIPS, our group and the year 6s tidied up the event before their break to get ready for their advertising pieces to show to the entire year. This also includes returning equipment to their art rooms, any cardboard that is left around is thrown away and that the area of the room is also neat and tidy and etc. There was no budget for the event because everything was supplied for the year 6s who are the target audience.…

Adams Center, Delta Sigma Theta, and Kappa Alpha put on the event on April 28th at the bottom of Adams Center from 6-8pm. The event was open to anyone, and the primary audience was black students and most took place in some aspect of the event, which is really cool. Everyone at the event was quite inviting and made the event enjoyable for me. They started with food that loosely aligned with black culture: gumbo, fried chicken, rice, green beans, mac and cheese, watermelon, and Kool-Aid and punch. It was delicious, and they didn’t run out of food early. The first presentation was a poetry slam about police brutality especially to black individuals. There was also a PowerPoint on repeat that displayed many statistics and facts about the…

The last event I considered is Nurse assistant. The purpose of this event is to provide students with a chance to develop the knowledge and skills of a nursing assistant. The first step to this competition is a multiple choice test. To get to the second round you are required to pass the test. You will also be required to do hands on skills, and you are judged on your skills. This competition would help me to become familiar with the usual hands on skills all nurses are required to know.…

Upon being assigned a Cultural & Service event with a paper I really wanted to both pick something I had never done before but, also gain a worthwhile experience. Since being at IUPUI I have not done much community service mostly because I don't think I realized how many actual opportunities that I would actually enjoy doing where there. I also did not realize the massive amount of cultural events that there are on campus in a variety of capacities from cultural talks to immersion experiences for non-international students. It was almost hard to choose where to get involved thus, I attended more then two events however, IUPUI Day of Caring and ACRIEMA were the most impactful.…

This time, we focused on a survey on the pros, cons, and fixes we could use for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Some of these issues were on about the size of classrooms, amount of students in a single classroom, thoughts on public against private schooling, and other little issues like those. A lot more people were interested in this event rather than the Carson City Council one, and I enjoyed it just as well. A certain person I remember calling was an old Mexican man, and although I’m not perfectly fluent in Spanish, we were still able to have a lengthy discussion on what improvements we would be able to make to our school system. I think my last round in the hours was very entertaining, and made me a lot more likely to join other events similar to these.…
