In both cases, facts incidents, concrete details may be used to point out the similarities or differences. At times a writer may even wish to use both comparison and contrast to develop a single idea.
Introduce the two subjects you will compare and contrast, and the categories they have in common. Then compare and contrast several characteristics of each subject.
