Dr.
Akua Adu, Sun City Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Akua Adu said that the “state legislature will be giving us less money for textbooks purchases.” Dr. Akua Writes a Memorandum on how she wishes to spend the monies allocated to schools. Dr. Akua writes that buying electronic textbook is going to be the least costly way to invest in the monies that were allocated by the state legislature. Dr. Akua writes about all the positive ways electronic textbooks can help; saving money, improving student learning and relieving teacher of becoming overload with work due to out dated information in textbooks. Dr. Akua gives information that backs up her claim that e-textbooks are the better way to save money. According to a 2012 report form the Federal Communication Commission. Etextbooks cost 50 to 60 percent less than regular textbooks. A study by the U.S. Department of Education found that technology assisted instruction can decrease the time it takes to learn new material by 5 percent.
Keaun Williams states that textbooks are less costly to our educational system. Keaun Williams does not present much evidence to support that claim. Dr. Akua Adu can say that e-textbooks are the best way to teach and it is the best way for students to obtain the most recent updated information there is out there to our students. Dr. Akus Adu provided us with a couple of studies we can look up for information to support the claim that e-textbooks is the best way to spend the monies allocated by
the state.
