CW chief Pedowitz hints at further seasons for ‘Supernatural,’ Says spinoff still a priority; Leaves the decision to studio
“Supernatural” is the longest-running show in the history of The CW and Warner Bros. as it has been renewed for season 12, but no end seems to be in sight. It could have more seasons because it has still a lot of terrific creative appeal left in it.
We are not saying this. It is the admission of The CW chief Mark Pedowitz, Entertainment Weekly claims. During the Television Critics Associations’ press tour, Pedowitz said that Jared Padalecki and Jenson Ackles seem very happy to him and he is thrilled with the creative direction of the show. According to him, the show is terrific in terms of creativity and if the ratings

Donald L. Niewyk’s fifth and sixth chapters both deal more with outside perspectives and outside reactions than it does with those who were persecuted. The fifth chapter, “Bystander Reactions,” offers four different arguments as to why bystanders acted they way they did during the Holocaust. The sixth chapter, “Possibilities of Rescue,” discusses three different viewpoints on what foreign governments could have done to prevent the Holocaust. These two chapters conclude Niewyk’s book The Holocaust and wrap up the final sequence of events surrounding the Holocaust and the camps.…

Four white men that have decided that they are better and superior to Grant because of their skin color, despite the fact that Grant is an educated man who teaches, which is respectable. In fact, they think that they’re so much more superior than Grant that they kept him waiting for two and a half hours. Even after the blatant disrespect they showed Grant, he is still debating how to treat this discussion. Grant chose to act like the teacher he is, which was very smart. He showed that he was a teacher through his speech, how he formed sentences, his word choice,…

6: After seeing the images created by De Bry, my view of Las Casas has changed. When reading his account, I did believe what he said about the things he witnessed, but I still questioned his documentation since there were lack of other testimonies in his letter. The art De Bry created was based off numerous accounts by dispersed people across numerous locations. This helps give me proof that Las Casas’ descriptions are…

Elizabeth C. Stanton was born in Johnston, New York. As a lawyer, Stanton’s father did not have a need for slaves thus creating the anti-slavery sentiment. Stanton was informed of the abolitionist, and women’s rights movements through her cousin, Gerrit Smith. Furthermore, her husband Henry Stanton was a lawyer who dedicated his knowledge to reforms present in the mid 19th century. Being surrounded by reformers had a great impact on Elizabeth C. Stanton as she used her knowledge from Willard’s Troy Female Seminary to further become a women’s rights activist.…

David Sze (July 7, 2015) posted a column in the Huffington Post entitled, “Money and Happiness? It’s Complicated.” As the title suggests, Sze discusses the link between having money and finding happiness, or “life satisfaction.” He approaches the issue from a post-modern perspective without considering any transcendent categories to evaluate the issue. Leaving a theistic perspective out, Sze struggles to find an adequate explanation for meaning, happiness and satisfaction in life.…

There is one prevailing question we ask ourselves consistently, “Does God exist?” Every human answer’s that question in their own unique way, which is contingent upon their beliefs, experiences, and influences. The existence of God was significantly debated among philosophers during the 18th and 19th centuries and each esteemed philosopher had a distinct argument explaining their rationale, while criticizing another’s. In this paper, I will analyze William Paley’s argument, “The Teleological Argument,” and how it is disparaged by David Hume and his argument for apparent…

The technical aspects of losing weight such as regularly going to the gym and eating a strict diet is a tedious process that may be a motivator to NOT lose weight. We’ve already established that many people struggling with their weight do not feel happy in their bodies, but the act of losing that weight may never even happen. According to Sabinsky’s study on men, he discovered men “perceive too many barriers towards weight reduction” (Sabinsky). Sabinsky identifies that participants’ perceptions of necessary dietary change implied a potential loss of masculinity (Sabinsky). The sense of masculinity trumps the need to enhance their bodies and men would risk body weight and appearance for their dignity. This can explain why it’s noticable that…

One of the ways that the theme supernatural is shown is through the main character Kat. In the beginning of this novel, when Kat realizes that she can see ghosts she was shocked and was not too sure what to do, but she did not tell anyone when she saw them. ”Hello Kat we have heard that you are becoming a supernatural teenger.”( Kimmel 31 ). Jodie and Mary, sisters from the island Gonzo, were conjoined at birth. Their spine was fused together and they shared the same heart and one set of lungs. Jodie was the stronger sister, as she was providing blood for Mary. Jodie and Mary’s parents, fervent Catholics, were determined to let the sisters stay conjoined. They fully believed that the girls are in the hands of God. Realizing the dire situation, the legal courts stepped in and fought for the girls to receive surgery. If the twins received surgery, Jodie would most likely survive, while Mary would almost definitely die. To continue, if the girls did not receive surgery to separate their limbs, they would both have a serious chance of fatality. The sisters would have around 3-6 months to live (Jones, 2001). Ultimately, there are two different ethical arguments. The argument for Jodie and Mary to receive the surgery to separate their limbs and the argument for the girls to be left alone and at the will of God.…

As we have discussed before, both violence and oppression manifest in various forms, however the idea of language-based violence is still novel to mainstream society. As the readings this week illustrated, language based violence and physical violence occasionally share a common root in gender-based oppression. Both Solnit and Anzaldúa write specifically about how "language is a male discourse" (Anzaldúa: 78) and how this discourse creates a knowledge among women that "this is not their world" (Solnit 2008). hooks states that the oppression created by structured languages and spaces as intertwined. She argues that activist must make the margin a site of resistance instead of a space of disadvantage, just as we must learn to accept the oppressor’s language as a tool for creating internal revolutions (hooks: 2009, 2004). Finally, Wright connects all three, space, language and gender in her analysis of the Nercopolitics and Femicide in Ciudad Juárez. Wright demonstrates how patriarchal language, such as the term "public women" when coupled with…

David Duchovny just played a miserable screenwriter in Jake Kasdan's indie feature "The TV Set," so his role as a miserable, semi-blocked novelist in "Californication" falls into the same, rather peculiar niche. Seeking the same jaunty, jaundiced tone as Showtime's "Weeds" -- while incorporating attention-grabbing helpings of nudity and sex -- the premiere is watchable but not fully arousing, often feeling as clenched, dour and indecisive as its brooding protagonist.…

As I enter into my second week in EDU605, I was given the opportunity to read and analyze an academic research paper that relates to differentiated instruction within my educational context. As I searched through articles and academic journals, I came across an interesting read. Charles Greenwood, Judith Carta, Howard Goldstein, Ruth Kaminski, Scott McConnell, and Jane Atwater presented their arguments on how the use of multi-tier approach to preschool language and early literacy instruction is the key for success for young learners who may be at risk.…
