In preparation for her next step to approach the King, Esther was wise to have all the Jews including herself and her maids to pray and fast. The law is that anyone to approach the King in the inner court without being called upon is to be put to death unless the King held out the golden scepter that he or she may live, explained in Esther 4:11. Again, Esther received favor and touches the top of the golden scepter and pleaded her request to the King for the King and Haman join her banquet. After the second banquet, Esther tells the King that Haman wishes to kill her and her people. Despite the fact that Esther kept a secret purposely by appearing to be a Persian virgin, the king was not upset when he found out that she was a Jew. Due to God’s favor, the King defended his Queen and her people and hung Haman on the very gallows he planned to hang her cousin Mordecai. Esther also requested the reverse of the plan of Haman to kill all Jews and a new decree was written in the favor of the Jews and was sealed with the Kings ring. The Jews because feared and killed their enemies. People actually became Jews because of the fear that fell upon them. Since Gentiles became Jews during this time, this portion of the story makes me think about how God’s original people were Jews but then Gentiles were adopted into the Kingdom of God by the blood of Jesus Christ.
