Rain on a Wedding Day Many cultures believe in the superstition that rain on someone’s wedding day is a sign of good fortune. Its origin seems to reside in the Hindu culture, according to all their customs, beliefs, and traditions. The Hindus believe that rain on a wedding day is foreshadowing to a strong marriage, therefore “Tying the Knot”. They believe rain can symbolize fertility, cleansing, unity, and renewal. Despite many opinions over the validity of rain on a couple’s wedding day, it should be considered lucky because of all the definite indicators. Martha Stewart, an American businesswoman, writer, and television personality says on CNN Living that rain represents fertility and cleansing. When a storm comes through it creates chaos and damage. Water helps wash away any debris, dirt, and even pollution. Marriage is a new start; rain will help give a person a clean slate from tough times and sadness from someone’s past. Water is crucial for life on Earth; it fertilizes the soil allowing plants to grow. Fertility in a married couple’s life appears through children. Shelli and Christopher were on Martha Stewarts show, they shared that they had a cloudburst on their wedding day and nine months later their daughter was born. Flourishing blooms and plant life are seen as a blessing in nature. After rain comes a rainbow which is a promise from God that he will never flood the Earth again, it’s also a symbol of hope and optimism. A couple has many reasons to be optimistic because of all the possibilities that lie ahead for them. God promises that he will bless a marriage with prosperity both spiritually and physically if he is in the middle of the marriage. God promises to bless a marriage with children, and in some cases an abundance of children. God promises to bless a marriage with a life full of happiness. Rain signifies unity and strength in a marriage. Most rope experts such as a Cub
