Books are also good for vocabulary and can promote the learning of new words. You can also get books with buttons that make noises to keep the child interested via auditory learning.
Role play and dressing up is also another way of encouraging speech and communication. Adults can play along side the children to encourage them with their speech and communication via the use of imaginative interaction with the child's thoughts and ideas about the game.
Nursery rhymes, songs and musical instruments are also good for communication skills. This encourages the child to listen, sing and communicate which can be done by their using hands to start off with and eventually adding singing. Musical instruments can be good for the children to practice repeating different sounds they have heard and can be used to increase or decrease the sounds in volume.
