Many small companies do not succeed in developing brand awareness. The reason for this is because most small businesses believe they can spend a small amount of money on marketing and open their doors. Small companies do not put in the time needed to create a brand. They also believe that it won’t do anything for the company and its just some big corporate garbage talk. Unfortunately for them, any kind of branding locally will have a bad impression on their company if it is not positioned right. Small companies need to grow with the rest of the world. Too many become relaxed in their strategy. I know a lot of people who own businesses who don’t accept new clients. Really…You don’t want to grow? This is a shame. Then they wonder why they are selling their business in a year. Also, as we grow, so does technology and marketing. Different technology is always in your face. This can be very expensive to obtain in a business. Therefore, businesses stay complacent with what they have. In regards to marketing, 29 years ago direct marketing was huge. Today, it is all about social media. If you don’t have the technology to keep up, your business will fail. I know a business owner. She has owned a day spa for 17 years. At first, it started out as a nail and tanning salon. Slowly but surely, it included pedicures, then facials, then massage. Today, they are a full service day spa that also included botox, derma-fillers, skin tightening and photo facials in addition to all the other services they started out doing. This is a perfect example of a small business who has kept up with
