Surviving To Be Resourceful In Miracle In The Andes
“They didn't survive by eating each other;they survived by being resourceful” (schablitsky). In Miracle in the Andes they did eat the dead but they were also resourceful in many different ways just like “Aron Ralston 127 Hours” and “How A Man Survived 438 Days Stuck At Sea.” These three stories show how to survive while be resourceful.
In Miracle In the Andes, the survivors demonstrate resourcefulness to survive. In the book nando and the others need to survive the harsh cold that is coming so they have to be resourceful and use what they can to survive. ”Oberto realized that the cloth coverings of the seats could easily be unzipped and removed and used as blankets”(Parrado 59). Sweeping the the grit off my thumb,i accidentally gouge myself and rip away a thin piece of decayed flesh.” (ralston) he accidentally cuts his own arm with a dull knife which made him realize he could be freed. Being resourceful he breaks his forearm and then cuts his arm off with his dull knife and frees himself from the rock he was trapped on.
In the story “How A Man Survived 438 Days Stuck At Sea” they have to be really resourceful and do whatever they can to survive stranded in the middle of nowhere in the ocean. ”they had collected five gallons of freshwater in plastic bottles they'd found floating in the ocean. ” (Franklin)in this part of the story they were very resourceful because of they didn't use the water bottles they found they could have died of dehydration because they can't drink the ocean water it will make them even more dehydrated.
It takes a lot of things to survive one of the most important things that they all used is ability and i think that's the main reason that they survive without the warmth from the clothes off the seats to keep them warm or using water bottles to catch rain so they won't get dehydrated or using a dull knife to cut of your arm they survived because they were
