Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainability moves to the forefront of our corporate culture and global governments attempting to integrate decision making economic, environmental and social production. Sustainability is viewing the way our actions affect future generations and ensure that without depleting resources or cause pollution at a rate faster than the Earth can renew. Economic, social and environmental are taken into considerations fully for sustainable development to occur. It is defined as a requirement of our generation to manage the resource base so that the average quality of life that we can ensure eventually is shared by all future generations. The economies of industries are becoming more efficient in their use of materials, but generation of waste still continues to increase. Sustainable development could be achieved through all participants in all three levels individual, nation and state. By developing sustainability we can gain benefits for societies, states, companies, individuals and for our entire system.

The purpose of monitoring sustainability in business is about being able to identify the internal and external plans for business growth in the future and, more specifically, the installation plan along with the environmental friendly budget to achieve the efficiency of scarce resources. Monitoring systems help to measure the sustainability of the company on the environment. It is an effective process to keep in mind all the indicators and other resources that are used by the company.
