If the leader or the manager is organized, does everything at its time and in the best way possible, everyone else would also follow that. In high school I worked on a project with some of my friends which was to create a bridge. Because my grades in Physics and Math was higher than others I had to manage the project. My job was to make sure the static equations work fine and also make sure the other parts such as building and designing had no problems. It was a great experience to have the time to see others and guide them to make sure the problems were solved and bridge won’t fall with different weights on them. Our bridge didn’t win the competition but it was a great practice for all of us to learn how to work in a group. For myself all of these help me to prepare myself for the future and understand my responsibilities more than…

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

    Everest Simulation

Working with a team, working for a team and working as a team are very different concepts. This distinction is the biggest lesson I learned from the simulation. A team may refer to a group of people but each member has a specific role to play. The idea of parts joining together to form a whole are analogous to the individual personalities, strengths and weaknesses each one brings to complete the team. In our group, the leader blended in with the roles of the other members. She would have been more influential if she had assumed her position more aggressively, by explaining the overall strategy, giving concrete instructions etc. She did a good job of listening to everyone’s comments but did not make her own opinions very clear. Being a leader is immense responsibility because the expectations from a leader supersede those of the other members. Thus I would imagine the leader to be working with the team, the other members for the team and a synergy of their efforts are working as a team. I always understood the importance of comprehensive and clear communication but I became more conscious about the importance of functional roles and reporting relationships in a team through the simulation. I was under the impression that a leader should do most of the talking but leading is more of a directive process, encouraging others to speak. If you are a good leader you do not maximize your own contributions but motivate others to put in their best inputs. I learned that this is a challenge because you have to establish yourself as the higher authority at the same time as well.…

Being a leader is more that motivating others to strive harder and accomplish goals. It’s more about gathering everyone with different skills, religion, ethnicity, etc. and making them one. As a leader, the task is to develop new strategies, tackle problems as soon as they start, recognize signs of stress, leave personal problems as home, put the job first, etc. Not everyone makes a great leader because time isn’t implemented to make changes that are necessary and don’t put the needs of the organization and members in thought. I will discuss who has been a great leader in my life any why. Along will that, I will discuss my traits as a leader.…

I needed to take the role because everyone else seemed lost and I was the only one with previous robotics experience so I told everyone if they mid if I become the group leader and no one minded. One thing I learned about myself by being the leader is I am very good at giving people specific jobs and keeping everyone on task without them getting distracted. It is difficult to narrow down the many instances where I have showed great leadership but many can be found in my involvements in teamwork. I have been looked to as a leader and have taken responsibility for various group projects. I have discovered much about fairness, compromise, and responsible qualities that are required to be a "good" leader. Often, I have had to sacrifice my own free time and personal desires for the benefit of the group. I believe this is the most important part of being a leader, the ability to sacrifice individual time and desires for the overall gain of the people that you are leading.…
