Firstly, Sweatshops have unfair and horrible working conditions. Employees are forced to work in dangerous and unsanitary conditions, are treated abusively and are given no human rights at all. Workers are rendered speechless, and are beaten just because they wanted to go home, or have a break. The Department of labour indicates that all sweatshops violate two or more health and labour laws! Plus, workers hardly get any food or water. This is horrendous, it is sad, and it is very unfair. The unfortunate people that end up working in sweatshops, receive exceptionally low wages, the minimum wage amounting to $2 per day. This means, that over a year these children and people earn only $730, which is around and under the salary for most New Zealanders in a week. Also, the money that the workers receive, can only just buy the essentials that their families need to survive, they can’t buy any things for pleasure at all. The hours that an average worker is forced to work, is 15-17 hours a day, 7 days a week, and don’t forget, they basically have no human rights at all. “An excited girl combs the hair of her Barbie, an over-worked hungry girl makes it possible,” This is why Sweatshop labour is unacceptable and needs to stop, as they have unfair wages and unreasonable
