From KSCA’s financial statement for the last five years, we can conclude, that the business is making profits on its books. With huge following of cricket in India and increase in international following of IPL Revenue Indexed Bonds may provide an exciting way to raise capital for the needed objectives.
How does it work?
For example, KSCA requires INR 100 billion for its expansion and restoration projects. But instead of loading debts on their books, it creates a SPV (KSCAL Ltd, say). This entity (KSCLA Ltd), in turn, issues 100 million securities of INR 100 each. The dividend provided by KSCA to security holders will be linked to y-o-y revenue growth of KSCA and declared by KSCA. Some points to consider:
• Revenue generated by the Stadium through sale of tickets for the sports events or cultural events, rents, advertisements etc., will be source of repayment to the security note holders.
• The security issued will have defined maturity period of 20 years.
• The whole amount raised by KSCAL Ltd is injected into KSCA as equity
