The company has magnificent teams in areas such as engineering, product planning and other sub verticals like marketing, promotions etc. Most of the planning for future is market – driven and depends on competitors product offerings. With portfolio of more than 15 products, there is always overlapping of prices and cannibalisation.

The increasing disposable income of people serves as huge strength for the company. The market leader in car segment sold 135,128 units in October 2017, an increase in 9.3 per cent year – on – year.
One of the major strength of MSIL is Mr. Randhir Singh Kalsi who is considered as one of the genius brains in Indian automotive industry.
Weakness
Maruti Suzuki does not hold much experience in SUV segment. The company is also less focussed on electric vehicle segment when compared to other players in the market.
In Indian market, there is lot of bargaining power in the hands of customers as variety of products is available in same range.
Opportunity
There is lot of opportunity in compact SUV segment.
There is huge export potential to emerging and developing markets.
Threats
Many other players like Tata Motors, Kia Motors are in process of making huge investment to increase manufacturing capacities.
The competition has become more intense after entry of foreign players like Ford, Volkswagen with the customized designs for Indian market.

In Hatchbacks; Alto K10, WagonR, Celerio are some popular models. DZIRE is one of the most popular products in Sedan category. The company’s products like Vitara Brezza, Gypsy are popular in SUV category. EECO and Omni dominate Van arena of Maruti.
The company understands the power of customization in today’s world and to keep up with trend, it launched IGNIS which allows user to customize exterior and interior of car according to his needs. This move aims just not to be slightly premium as a hatchback but also stay in that mass price pool.
Ciaz S, Baleno RS, S – Cross, IGNIS are some popular models launched under Nexas, the premium segment arm of Maruti Suzuki. The demand for diesel variants of cars are higher than petrol, with a ratio of 60:40.
