In today’s society there are a number of forces affecting how businesses run; in this essay I will explain how different forces affect a bakery chain called Greggs. Greggs is the largest bakery chain in the UK, over the course of its existence Greggs has already adapted numerous times to adapt to changing requirements in its target population and to try and maximise profits. In 1972 Greggs expanded outside of North Eastern England for the first time opening a regional division in Glasgow, twelve years after this happened Greggs started to trade on the London Stock exchange. Also in 1994 Greggs acquired 424 bakers oven shops which enabled Greggs to have an in store bakery this enabled them to put Greggs shops in built up busy areas and Bakers oven shops in smaller previously untouched areas with a lower population as the shops could bake what is needed for demand. This paper I will discuss the SWOT analysis of McKendree University. It has been said that the time given to achieve a class while at this university is not lengthy and is a disadvantage. However, the university offers different professional programs to develop students within the allotted time and still create a culture of experiences and campus life beyond the classroom. This would also create an environment supportive of attending McKendree University after military obligations and raising a family.…
As Chief Operation Officer, I would start by reviewing the New Belgium Brewery SWOT analysis to understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that were identified by opening up the Asheville or Port Collins brewery locations (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). The SWOT will provide detail information about a company’s “financial performance, resources, production facilities and capacity, market share, customer perceptions, product quality, economic conditions and technology” (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). One must understand the opportunities the company has faced in the past with new implementations in order to be successful in the future and not repeat the same mistakes (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). The key pros and cons that I would…

Kroger Co. as with most of its competition finds itself in a unique and challenging position to maintain market dominance while suffering the effects of a sluggish economy. While having an impressive market share in 44 markets and 31 states, the weaknesses of operating manufacturing widespread operations, open it up to contamination risk and pricing problems from within the organization that must be accounted for either at the supply or demand side. Kroger’s expansion into the finance market proved valuable in 2007 and an the opportunity to expound that success is at the…

The success of a small growing business depends on their ability to produce a good product with high quality service, in order to grow and prosper in a competitive market. They must believe in their product and foster relationships not only externally to the consumer but within their own internal workforce. The New Belgium Brewing Company (NBB) believes that dedication to high involvement culture and a loving, high performing workforce sets them apart from their competition. With the birth of the company in 1991, they have created and grown an organization that is 100% employee-owned and has a goal of making world-class beers while minimizing its environmental footprint (New Belgium Brewing Company, 2014). But as with any business they are not the only ones looking to compete in the growing business of brewing beer and they must measure and address their internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as the external opportunities and threats in order to move ahead of their competition.…

Iggy’s Bread of the World is an incredibly unique company. The niche that has made this company so successful is the commitment to the core compentency which is baking bread in a way that makes the person making the bread have a deep connection with the preparation and baking of it. Also, there is much thought and effort to find quality materials that help make the bread. It is this attention to detail and passion for the process of baking and delivering bread that has brought Iggy’s the success it has seen since it’s inception in xxxx. The success that Iggy’s has seen has also created the need for the company to expand in order to meet the growing demands of new customers. While the owners, Igor and Ludmilla Ivanovic, have done a wonderful job creating a culture that is necessary for the type of work ethic they require to produce the high quality product their customers have grown to expect, they were aware that they would need help to grow the company to a size that could meet the growing demand that their product was getting.…
