Course Description:
Effective financial management requires proper financial planning, accurate financial analysis and effective controlling of the financial affairs. There are different tools and methods in making financial plans, analysis and control. This course has been designed to provide the learners the basics on planning, analysis and controlling of financial affairs, information and issues.
Course objectives:
After studying the course, the learners are expected to demonstrate their knowledge
i) In making financial plans for the organization by using the different tools and techniques. ii) In Reviewing, interpreting, and understanding financial statements and information to determine an organization’s financial position and health by applying analytical models used to evaluate financial performance. iii) In controlling and monitoring the financial activities to ensure the achievement of financial goals.

An Overview of Financial Planning, Developing a Long-term Financial Plan, Developing a Short-Term Financial Plan. Preparation of Cash budget, pro-forma Balance Sheet and pro-forma Income Statement, and estimation of required funds.

a. Overview of Financial Statement Analysis: Financial Statements—Basis of Analysis, Financial Statement Analysis and Analysis Tools
b. Analyzing Financing Activities:Debt Financing, Lease Financing, Equity Financing,
Off- Balance Sheet Financing.
c. Analyzing Investing Activities:Introduction to Current Asset and Introduction to long term assets.
d. Analyzing Operating Activities:Income measurement, Nonrecurring Items, Revenue recognition, interest costs, income taxes, employee benefits.
e. Cash Flow Analysis: Statement of cash flows, Analysis implications of cash flows, Analysis of cash flows,
