This course is designed to present an overview of current theories of counseling with a special focus on the philosophical assumptions, key concepts, techniques, and practical applications of each approach. Each theory will be examined critically so that the student can begin to formulate an integrated personal theory of counseling.
Class Objectives:
The following objectives are built upon the foundational Professional Identity content suggested by CACREP, and then focus in on Counseling, Prevention, and Intervention requirements common across all three counseling programs of Clinical mental health, couple and family therapy, and school counseling.
