In both short stories there were objects that define the characters. For instance in surface textures the melon was used to describe a spiritual journey of Harish’s life meanwhile the spiders in the building a web illustrates the beginning of a life changing experience for Aurora. Symbolism is used in both text to allow the readers t perceive a different interpretation of the texts. This is because if t weren’t for the use of symbolism then it would be very difficult for the readers to be able to understand Harish’s story, same applies to Aurora’s life changing experience. Can you imagine how tasteless a story would be without the use f style? Henceforth the use of symbolism in both texts has critically influenced the readers through a guided interpretation though the guiding couldn’t be more than just a deliberate cause. Leaving back his materialistic life and what his families anticipation, he followed the surface textures of a melon and other objects. To him the melon his wife brought from the market had altered him into surrendering on his well reputable domestic comfort . while observing the melon surface according to the author Harish seemed to be plunged into some kind of internal mystical experience .Meanwhile Aurora had a varied situation on her moment of realization. When she chose to evade her family she seemed to have taken a break from the centuries of tolerance from her family’s affection and attention towards her .however when she finally found herself in an abandoned attic building , the working spiders on the ceiling had occurred to her as a reason to as why her family will never cease to love her. She clearly saw the importance of a family. Though still in her bewildering moment she settled peacefully to what her heart antagonized her to do. Aurora sites of the spider have changed her life since she ended up loving her family for what they did to her. Both stories give us a glimpse of how its like to be different from the society’s expectation. It gives us a glimpse of how both character had to keep their families away to endure their long term
