In a recent study done by The American Association of University Women, a corporation started in 1881 by a 17-year old feminist, found that men make about $10,000 more a year than women do. This number is not as big as it used to be, considering that many women weren't supposed to work, but is still a substantial amount. She uses him as a male character to foreshadow the death of the innocent women. She uses his name to show that men in society are higher than women and that they mean more. She shows that our society is all male based and that men mean more than women.

The life of a women in Afghanistan and many other countries in the Middle East, is very traditional. It is almost frowned upon to be a women, which is wrong. Many women when they are born, are raised as boys.
