Symbolism In The Story Legend

In the first chapter of the story, it is about symbolism. In the story Legend, some symbolism is the coin, the necklace, and lastly the character Day. Day is symbolic by showing hope,and the coin symbolizes hope also. But on the other hand, I think the necklace symbolizes hate. Lou tries to get the point across that symbolism is a big part in the story.
