Symbolism In To This Day

In the life changing poem “To This Day” Shane Koyczan uses symbolism throughout the poem to describe how he and other people went through some dark times throughout their lives.But one thing really stood out the me the most was this quote. “ ...lived like the uphills were mountains and the downhills were cliffs, four-fifths suicidal, a tidal wave of antidepressants….” (Koyczan). This symbol refers to the the cliff, which could symbolize a critical point in his life, and a time for change.
