Egyptians made mastabas, which were tombs made of dried bricks that were buried on top of other graves. In the new kingdom burials were labeled by class from high to low based on the outcome of the tomb and the offerings inside. Tombs elements were so complex in its time and form of art, sculpture and scripts give us a better idea of what the life of the buried person or things inside the tomb was meant for or used for this special person. The rooms in tombs were built above the burial chamber at ground level containing offerings for the afterlife and the gods. Underground burial chambers were often decorated with wall painting of the buried person and their story and what their standard of living was. The walls of the tombs mainly for pharaohs were painted with beautiful images of the gods. Most all tomb paintings consisted of the gods or pharaohs to look young and healthy in their prime years. Egyptian art was ordained to set simple rules that were followed by its people for thousands of years to help create the sense of order and balance within its…

With the translation of the Rosetta Stone in 1822, an ancient artifact created in 196 BC, historians discovered and were able to decipher several sets of inscriptions and papyri (medical documents) from that era. The Ebers Papyrus, the Edwin Smith Papyrus, and the Hearst Papyrus provided extensive details about Egyptian medicine and surgeries. Three different scripts were used in the writings of the Rosetta Stone. The first was hieroglyphic, which was primarily used for important or religious documents, the second was demotic (the common script of Egypt), and the third was Greek, which was the common language of Egypt at that time. This documentation was written in all three languages so that priests, government officials, and rulers could read…
"Frustrated in their attempts to get someone to translate the hieroglyphs for them, the Greeks decided on their own that the symbols must be a kind of picture writing." Giblin gives example of some of the wrong theories the scholars had, "A Greek writer named Horapollo said correctly that the picture of a goose stood for the word 'son'. But then he explained that this was because geese took special care of their young, which was completely inaccurate." Giblin had done a fine job of explaining the whole process of the scholars trying to figure out what the stone said. But, after Horapollo Giblin explains of another scholar that had no clue what he was talking about, that Kircher was "even farther off the mark" than Horapollo and that "Kircher let his imagination run wild." He also says that " From 1650 onward, Kircher produced several volumes of such nonsense." Giblin was not afraid to let the readers know of how he feels about the scholars wrong ideas.…
In Egypt, around 6,000 BC, the first writing system was invented in the form of pictographs, little pictures drawn that represented words. The ancient Egyptians were very intelligent people. They invented many things that influenced their lives greatly in terms of advancement. The ancient Egyptians’ main written language, hieroglyphics, was important to preserve the records of their lives for centuries to come. In the ancient times, before paper was even thought of, Egyptians would carve the pictographs into stones or tablets. Historians, for a long time, were unable to decipher hieroglyphics because the art form had been slowly replaced by other written languages. That all changed when the Rosetta Stone was found in 1799. This artifact contained very important information that helped us learn much more about life in Ancient Egypt.…
There are a number of barriers to effective communication in health and social care. One of these is environment. If the environment gets in the way of effective communication, then the receiver may not understand the message that is being given to them. An example of environmental factors in a health and social setting would be a busy hospital being uncomfortably busy or loud. If a patient is in a busy ward and cannot relax due to excessive noise, phones ringing and people bustling in and out, they will not be able to relax or get any proper rest, which will affect their recovery.…
(Fiero, 22) In the visual arts, rulers and gods alike were depicted with the attributes and physical features of powerful animals. Such as is the case with the Great Sphinx. A symbol of superhuman power and authority. Ancient Egyptians believed that the pharaoh on his death would join with the sun to govern Egypt eternally. (Fiero, 23) The king's corpse would be mummified and wrapped in fine linen and placed in an elaborate coffin, which was floated down the Nile to a burial site located at Gizeh and Saggara. The earliest Egyptian tombs were propably modeled on Egypt's domestic dwellings. These mud-brick tombs, called mastabas, consisted of an offering chamber room that held a statue of the dead, and a shaft that descended to the burial chamber some 100 feet below. Stacking five mastabas of decreasing size on top of one another. Imenhotep produced the impressive stepped pyramid for King Zoser (ruled around 2600 BC). The true geometric pyramid took shape with the fourth dynasty pharaohs of the Old Kingdom. (Fieor, 25) The Great Pyramid of Khufu, consists of more than two million stone blocks rising to approx. 480 feet and covering a base area of thirteen acres. The chamber walls were painted in fresco and carved in relief with images recreating the pharaoh's life on earth. Hieroglyphs formed an essential component of pictorial…
