TUVA Reflection
I see TUVA, hopefully, to further increase its presence in New Orleans and at Tulane. I understand TUVA is a small club; however, I believe the events the club participates in throughout the year create a community and family that I wish all members could experience. In terms of New Orleans, I strongly believe that TUVA has an obligation to the members and other VSA to participate in events, especially in GC events, regardless of time conditions or stress. TUVA is not well-known, and not participating almost shows an apathy to be apart of the VSA community in New Orleans. On the other hand, for Tulane, I remember during Date Auction I invited my friends to come watch, and they told me how awesome it was to get off campus for a little and enter

Over the millions of years that humans have been on this earth, many communities have come to existence. The great Egyptians, and the Roman empire, are just to name a few but none are more diverse and complex than the city of New Orleans. A city founded on the worlds’ second largest river, New Orleans is a place that has thrived for many years. Though it is always at risk of natural disasters, the people stay true to its’ traditions and diversity. The “Who Dat Nation” will always be strong and supportive of not only their team but of their community. Natives will always hold onto their French heritage as-well. The Creole people have been able to maintain a strong tie to the French language, as well as practicing Catholicism. A favorite expression…

As a nurse in the critical care unit I noticed an increase in CAUTIs over the last six months. Olaudah Equiano’s life as a slave was different compared to the other slave stories we have known. His experiences as a slave were actually pretty amazing. Some of his masters treated him as part of their family which was rarely to happen for a slave. In addition, he was able to go around and explore the world; but that's not it, he even purchased his own freedom. One of the bad things that I considered really changed his life was when he and his sister was abducted to sell and later on got separated from one another. This could highly affect a person’s different aspect of his or her life especially when they're close to whoever they got separated from. Equiano used that separation with his sister to keep on traveling farther from home rather…

Every summer for the past 8 years, I travel to rural Michigan and enter the microcosm of Habonim Dror Camp Tavor. Camp Tavor describes itself as a Jewish overnight camp that creates an inclusive community that emphasises the learning and discussion of Jewish values and social justice. I describe Habonim Dror Camp Tavor as the community that provided me with my most important, lifelong friends and taught me valuable skills of critical thinking, social awareness and interpersonal community building skills that allowed me to transform into the feminist, socialist, hyper progressive radical jewess I am today.…

My conclusion, as I took this class my understanding of Christians has being a good outlook for me, in the way that God wants us to live. As I have outline about Jesus did not claim to be God, but he did state that I am the Fathers and Son. And if a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life, yes it does because they are suppose to be God leader in order to help others come to God. The local church can communicate God’s love to the community by going out and taking time to help the community understand the meaning of God.…

NAMI is a mental health association committed to increase mindfulness, offers encouragement and education to those affected by mental illnesses. Throughout high school we have always been tasked with different materials to read; whether it be Shakespearean texts, short stories, poems, or just books in general. No matter what though, I love to read. So any text I take in, I am always eager to absorb the words. The texts I have read at the time may have just felt like assignments, but now as I am older, I can see the lessons to be learned within them and how they were a major aspect as to how I view situations in the world around me. I cannot pick a favorite text that I have read throughout my grades nine to twelve years, but I will review a few that made an impact on me.…

    Ells Reflection

This presentation was informative about ELL’s in Florida. First, I learned about our district’s demographics. Florida is “ranked 3rd in ELL population.” Most of the ELL students speak Spanish and come from low economic backgrounds. During the presentation, the presenters were informed about the area and connected the information to our lives. Next, I learned the reason why people move to the United States. For example, for better careers, to escape war, to escape the government, and over all they are looking for a better life. Most people call this “the American Dream.” Newcomers initially feel happy and excited. After, a little while they have a culture shock and feel scared. These students are transitioning into a huge change, and they might not know the common language. The best way to make these students feel like they are at home is to help them in the classroom. Teachers play a vital role in a student’s life, teachers help mold and shape children. ELL students should be on an ELL plan, for they can receive services to help them succeed.…

    My Visit To New Orleans

When I started to look for colleges during high school, I took an unconventional approach towards finding the university that I wanted to attend. My first visit to New Orleans was by accident after my parents canceled our summer trip to Santa Fe because they did not think the food there was good enough. They asked if New Orleans was a better alternative and I jumped at the idea of being in a city that supposedly is rich in ghost . After my first trip, I fell in love with the people, atmosphere, and most importantly the city. The next three years, my family and I came to New Orleans any chance we had, during spring break, winter vacation, and the summer. New Orleans became a place where my imagination was replenished after spending my whole life in Houston. The way I connected to New Orleans was through the distinct architecture and historical presence that I felt through my everyday experiences in the city.…
