It is more than 350 years old. Its unique beauty attracts the attention of the people of the country and foreign countries. A large number of people come to see it everyday. The map of Taj Mahal was prepared by the Ustad Ahmed of Lahore. The construction of Taj Mahal began in 1631 A.D. Twenty thousand workers constructed it in twenty years. Acording to Dewan-e Afridi, 9 crores 16 lakh rupees were spent in its construction. The outline and sample of Taj was made by an architect. It is made from white marble. The marble for it was brought from Makrana. The means of transportation were not developed in those days. The bullock carts and camel carts were used for carrying goods in those days. It can be easily imagined that how laborious the work of carrying large piece of marble would have ben in those days. Taj mahal is situated about 10 kms away from Agra city on the bank of river Yamuna. It is constructed on a high rectangular plain piece of land which is 290 metre long and 96 metre wide. The Yamuna River flows in its North direction and there are three beautiful gardens in other three directions. The gate of Taj Mahal is made from red stone and the Ayats of Quran are written on it with white marble. There is a small museum in it where the arms and weapons of Mughal Emperors are kept. After this there is a scene of beautiful garden before the Taj Mahal where water ponds are seen with fountains and beautiful trees are planted on both sides. There are four white marble minarets around the Taj Mahal. It looks as if these minarets are guarding the emperor Shahjahan and his beloved wife mumtaj who are in ever lasting sleep under the 90 metre high large dome. Starting at the base of the Taj Mahal all sis elements of visual design, line, space, light and color, texture, pattern, and time and motion are all present. The Taj Mahal was completed in 1648 C.E. after 22 years of construction by Muslim Emperor Shan Jahan and master architect Ustad Isa. The Taj was erected on a square base that measures 186 x 186 feet, with the four corners truncated, which created an unequal octagon. Immediately upon first sight one can see the self-replicating geometry and symmetrical design. Varieties of lines are visible from straight lines of the base to the round dome 213 feet above. Each archway is exactly the same shape, pointed arch, but not all equal in size. Gems, designs and calligraphy can be found inside and out of the white marble masterpiece. The white marble design gives it a smooth texture and clean appearance. Depending on the time and light it will appear to change color, some say this identifies the moods of women. The color is reflected from the light and red sandstone used to construct surrounding structures. The reflection of the Taj can be seen on the Jumna River that flows on the backside of the Taj Mahal.…

The building of the pyramid took a total of less than 30 years. On average, 2.3 million blocks of stone were used to build Khufu's pyramid, weighed 2.5 tons, and the heaviest blocks, used as the ceiling of Khufu's burial chamber, weighed in an estimate of 40-60 tons. The pyramid was most likely constructed by approximately 4,000 craftsmen. The question of exactly who built the pyramids, and how, has long been debated by Egyptologists and historians. Theory has it that the stones were hauled up by ramps using ropes of papyrus twine. The gradually sloping ramps, built out of mud, stone, and wood were used as transportation causeways for moving the large stones to their positions up and around the four sides of the pyramid. The minds of the ancient Egyptians are very impressive considering their advanced engineering skills at such an early stage in time. Even the people of the 21st century still can not determine how they built the Great Pyramid of Giza.…

The Taj Mahal incorporates and expands on design traditions of Persian architecture and earlier Mughal architecture. Specific inspiration came from successful Timurid and Mughal buildings including; the Gur-e Amir (the tomb of Timur, progenitor of the Mughal dynasty, in Samarkand),[18] Humayun's Tomb, Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb (sometimes called the Baby Taj), and Shah Jahan's own Jama Masjid in Delhi. While earlier Mughal buildings were primarily constructed of red sandstone, Shah Jahan promoted the use of white marble inlaid with semi-precious stones, and buildings under his patronage reached new levels of refinement.[19]…
