Throughout the film, the camera movements went from person to person several times. Each time, the camera highlighted the body posture, expressions, and clothing the character was wearing. The battle at the castle displayed camera movements that were up close and personal. The camera moved along different faces whether it was Margot's (Isabelle Adjani) or the Protestants that were dying. The camera also moved with the people fighting, presumably to focus in on their experience. When the man slashed the protestant's throat, the camera followed the man to the ground. After the slashing, the camera hen went back up to the Catholic man and woman to capture their facial expressions. By showing their faces, it also makes the audience feel more engages when watching and apologetic for those that are being injured or killed. It creates a sense of sympathy from the audience. It was almost as if the bodies were tossed aside as well. The dumping of the bodies into the trench or dug up ground reminded the audience of a more recent event they can refer too, the Holocaust. The Nazi's got rid of the Jewish prisoners in a similar way and the bodies were treated poorly and with little respect.
