Scenario What should you do as a manager to address the problems in this scenario? How did applying theories help you address the problems in this scenario?
Scenario One According to the medical council of New Zealand, unprofessional behavior is any repetitive characteristics that can affect an effective functioning of people working in an organization. Unprofessional conduct can be in many forms, including coming to work late, lack of communication skills and the lack of other crucial practices for effective team performance. However, new people to organizations might be unaware of their behaviors’ impacts. From our case, Kenda often comes to work late after lunch, usually texts on her phone while patients wait, and she uses …show more content…
That will be very important because it will be helping the organization to uproot those destructive behaviors in their early stages. If there were such policies, Kenda’s behavior could not have been gone that higher tension. Moreover, I will be sending them weekly emails to ensure their awareness of the behavioral expectations, and reporting processes (MEDICAL COUNCIL OF NEW ZEALAND, n.d). If Kenda received weekly emails that lateness, use of phones and social media in working hours was prohibited, she would keep it in mind and adhere to the regulations. In addition, employees should not wait until a small problem becomes as huge as that of Norris and Kenda was. Approaching this problem, we should look at in a financial perspective. Understandably, the organization has to make more money by increasing its productivity and revenue or by reducing the expenses that the organization makes (American Academy of Family Physicians, 2016). In addition, this organization emphasizes that most of the healthcare organizations spend much of their financial means through staff costs. However, you can find some of the staffing tasks irrelevant or not very necessary. The scenario does not specify the reason why the Medical Offices’ staffing costs got higher, but there might be some of the tasks on which money was spent were not very necessary. Identifying whether all tasks done are worth being done, and by the right person is the step to reducing the staffing expenses. We can will find some of the activities not worth being done, or can be done by a single individual while they were done by several. In this way, the right people in the right way, will work on necessary tasks and others will be assigned other duties which will bring revenues to the
